Berrington Hall
Arrow have been contracted to carry out a renewable feasibility study into the conversion from fossil fuel to renewable energy at Berrington Hall in Herefordshire.
The cost benefit data represented an overview of the opportunity for biomass; the returns were low but there was significant carbon savings available. It is important to note on these types of projects that the cost benefit can change significantly, if the actual heat usage is not achieved, the actual usage was based on degree days and therefore this can change affecting the benefit to the scheme.
The key common points on these types of projects to consider are the archeological and ecology aspects which require further investigation. The electricity supply to the boiler plant, upgrades to the existing buildings in terms of extra heating and conversion from the electrical to district heating also required consideration.
